Thank You, "Anonymous," "NON-Progressive Associate,"

They notified your bank on the 14th that an electronic transaction was going to occur. It takes up to 5 days for the transaction to happen between financial institutions. Many businesses, such as your insurance company, give you credit for a payment on the day of the original notification (before they get the money). Banks will not give you credit for a transfer automatically so your complaint is with your bank. Banks hold money every day of the year fo multiple reasons but mainly to make sure that the transfer has happened.
You do not state what the effective date of your policy is, just complain of the date when you called to cancel your policy. Policies all have effective dates and the date that the money is due. Many consumers do not understand the the date that the insurer agrees to take your payment is not necessarily the date that the policy is effective. IE: Your policy starts on the 1st of the month and your premium due date is the 10th. You are paying 10 days after the effective date. You have been given 10 days of coverage. Later you decide to cancel on the 1st of November, thinking that you have 10 days of a refund coming. Your policy is paid through the effective date of the 1st and you may not get any refund.
You should have checked with Progressive before you purchased the motorhome to make sure that it would be covered on a personal lines auto policy, and if it would be covered for modifications. You ASSUMED that it would and bought it so that you can be comfortable with your disability. That mistake is on you for not calling to discuss your situation and following the advice you were given Do you make similar assumptions about your medical insurance? Will every purchase you make be covered because you want something different?
Obviously you are still mad about what placed you in your situation when you were injured. I think you owe Progressive a written apology and a retraction. I do not work for Progressive.

I tried to respond under comments, but I think you deserve the spotlight.  :)

First, I was in contact with my bank, throughout this transaction.  I needed the money to get another policy.  As the picture shows, "the 19th" is the day the money was to be released.  That deposit was in my account on the 18th.  So, No, it was NOT my bank.

Second, I'm well aware of my policy's effective date, as well as the fact that a Texas requires payees to be 10-15 days ahead.  I cancel on the 14th.  HALF way through the pay period...HALF OF $330 is $165...half of that $80'ish...  I got back $77.  I paid on the 3rd or the 5th...effectively paying about $16 a day for coverage.

Lastly, and the REAL reason you deserve the spotlight and centerstage...

YOU think customers should "ask" for permission to change their vehicle, from their insurance company?  And if THEY say No, then I should just continue to drive cars...and hurt myself...'I' am the asshole because THEY refused me service?

What happens when YOU become disabled, and need to modify a vehicle...will you approach them, on really bended knee, and beg to drive a vehicle that doesn't cause you pain?  WHEN THEY TELL YOU GO FUCK YOUSELF...is that what you'll do?  Will YOU bend over, THANK them, and apologize for YOUR disability?

For the record, I am not going to apologize to Progressive Insurance because THEY chose to deny me services.  Moreover, "I caution anyone considering Progressive Insurance as their auto carrier, to move along.  If you need to modify a vehicle because you've 'become' disabled, they'll drop you."

If you don't work for Progressive, consider yourself lucky.  They are a heartless corporation who sees people as profit-potential, not individuals within a level marketplace.  I am not actively seeking counsel over this matter...but I tell this story to EVERYONE with 3 minutes, if and when the opportunity arises.

If YOU want an insurance company telling YOU what you can and can't drive or modify for your needs...let Progressive Insurance control you!!  They'd be happy to put you in one of their profit portals...until they don't want you anymore...

  1. You dont need to get permission to change a vehicle, you needed to find out if the vehicle you were thinking of ourchasing would be covered under a personal vehicle policy. Many auto oolicies are restricted by weight. Many policies do not cover modified vehicles and you could have avoided all of your hurt and stress by making 1 phone call before the purchase. You chose not to fo this but now, in your mind it is the fault of the company. 10 plus years of advising customers about coverage for vehicles and not a day goes by where someone will not accept that they made the mistake and want to point their finger at the expensive insurance company. Remember that when you point your finger at someone yhere are 3 fingers pointing at you. I am not dead inside but tired of peopld who want to blame someone else all of the time
